Fairway Ledger

Privacy Policy

Effective Date: May 17, 2026

1. Introduction

Blind Logic ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Fairway Ledger mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use Fairway Ledger.

By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

  • Display name — the name you choose to appear to other players
  • Email address — only if you choose to link an account via email/password, Google, or Apple sign-in
  • Golf data — handicap index, round scores, hole-by-hole entries, course selection, and game configurations you enter while using the App
  • League and financial data — league membership, monetary stakes, dues, and settlement amounts (stored as integer values; no payment processing occurs)

2.2 Automatically Collected Information

  • Firebase Authentication data — an anonymous user ID is created automatically when you first open the App. This ID may be linked to your chosen identity provider if you verify your account.
  • Push notification tokens (FCM) — a device token is collected if you grant notification permissions, to deliver round invitations and updates
  • Crash reports — we collect crash and error data via Firebase Crashlytics to diagnose and fix bugs
  • Usage analytics — aggregate usage events (e.g., screens visited, features used) are collected via Firebase Analytics to help us improve the App

2.3 Anonymous Usage

You may use the App without creating an account. Anonymous users are assigned a random Firebase UID and can participate in rounds and leagues. No personally identifiable information is required until you voluntarily link an account (e.g., to access financial features like stakes or dues).

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Operate the App and provide its core features (score tracking, round management, side games, league standings)
  • Sync your data across devices when you are signed in
  • Send push notifications for round invitations, score updates, and league activity (only if you have granted permission)
  • Diagnose crashes and technical issues
  • Understand how features are used in aggregate, to improve the App
  • Allow other players in a shared round or league to see your display name and scores

We do not use your data for advertising or sell it to third parties.

4. Firebase Services

Fairway Ledger is built on Google Firebase. The following Firebase services process your data:

  • Firebase Authentication — manages user identity (anonymous + linked providers)
  • Cloud Firestore — stores round data, scores, leagues, and user profiles
  • Cloud Functions — handles round joins, notifications, and server-side logic
  • Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) — delivers push notifications to your device
  • Firebase Crashlytics — collects crash reports for bug diagnosis
  • Firebase Analytics — tracks aggregate usage patterns

All Firebase services are provided by Google LLC. Data is stored and processed in Google Cloud infrastructure. Google's privacy practices are described at firebase.google.com/support/privacy.

5. Data Storage and Retention

Your data is stored in Google Cloud (Firebase) servers, primarily in North America.

  • Data is retained for as long as your account exists.
  • If you delete your account (via Settings → Delete Account), all associated data — including your profile, round participation records, and scores — is permanently deleted from our systems.
  • Anonymized aggregate analytics data may be retained by Google Analytics after account deletion, as it cannot be linked back to you.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the data we hold about you (contact privacy@blindlogic.ca)
  • Delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the App (Settings → Delete Account)
  • Withdraw push notification permissions at any time via your device's system settings

If you are located in a jurisdiction with specific data protection rights (e.g., GDPR, PIPEDA), you may have additional rights. Contact us at privacy@blindlogic.ca to exercise any of these rights.

7. Financial Disclaimer

Fairway Ledger tracks monetary amounts (stakes, dues, settlements) for organizational purposes within a golf group. The App does not process, hold, transmit, or facilitate any financial transactions. All monetary settlement must be arranged directly between players outside of the App. Blind Logic is not responsible for any financial disputes between users.

8. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties, except:

  • Google Firebase — as described in Section 4, Firebase processes data as our technical infrastructure provider
  • Legal requirements — if required by law, court order, or governmental authority, we may disclose information to comply with applicable law

9. Children's Privacy

Fairway Ledger is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@blindlogic.ca and we will delete that information.

10. Security

We rely on Firebase's industry-standard security infrastructure to protect your data. Access to Firestore is controlled by security rules that enforce user-level data isolation. We take reasonable steps to protect your data but cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this document. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy. For significant changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you within the App.
